This is a rare moment: starting up the commercial engine for a first-in-class ophthalmic therapy from the ground up. You will join a small, experienced team where your work directly shapes how and how quickly LYTENAVA reaches patients. The pace is fast, the ownership is real, and the mission is one you can see.
As Director – Payer Access, you will own the payer and Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) strategy that determines how quickly LYTENAVA reaches the patients who need it. This highly visible leadership role will oversee commercial and government payer strategy, contract development, rebate management, and payer analytics while serving as the primary business lead for external payer contracting consultants. The Director will partner closely with Market Access, Finance, Legal, Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Government Pricing, Trade & Distribution, and Executive Leadership to ensure successful market access execution before and after launch.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Payer & Formulary Strategy
- Drive LYTENAVA formulary attainment across national and regional medical-benefit (Part B) payers.
- Develop and execute account strategies that secure and defend favorable coverage and reimbursement.
- Convert coverage wins into patient access in partnership with field reimbursement and patient support.
- Lead development of payer value dossiers, budget-impact models, and clinical/economic evidence packages to support P&T committee reviews.
- Track formulary status, coverage policies, and utilization-management criteria (e.g., prior authorization, step therapy) across top national and regional payers.
MAC & Government Coverage
- Own coverage strategy across all MAC jurisdictions.
- Monitor Local Coverage Determinations and coding developments; anticipate and respond to policy shifts.
- Build relationships with medical directors and policy stakeholders across MAC regions.
- Prepare and submit evidence-based comment letters and coding recommendations.
- Track CMS rulemaking, J-code/HCPCS-CPT coding updates, and reimbursement-rate developments that affect patient access.
Vendor & Consultant Management
- Select and manage payer-access vendors and consultants to extend reach and capability.
- Hold partners accountable to milestones, budget, and measurable coverage outcomes.
- Develop scopes of work, budgets, and timelines for payer-access engagements; oversee day-to-day execution and deliverables.
- Report vendor performance and coverage progress to senior leadership, escalating risks and adjusting course as needed.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Inform pricing, contracting, and value-communication strategy with payer insight.
- Equip field and marketing teams with current coverage and reimbursement intelligence.
- Partner with Market Access leadership, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Field Reimbursement to align payer strategy with the broader launch plan.
- Represent the payer and reimbursement perspective in brand planning, forecasting, and pricing/contracting discussions.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Required
- 8+ years in market access, payer strategy, or reimbursement in biopharma, including buy-and-bill / medical-benefit products.
- Deep working knowledge of Medicare Part B, MAC jurisdictions, LCDs, and J-code / coding pathways.
- Track record securing medical-benefit coverage for provider-administered therapies.
- Experience managing vendors and consultants and leading cross-functional launch work.
Preferred
- Ophthalmology, retina, or buy-and-bill specialty (biologics / injectables) launch experience.
- Familiarity with specialty distribution and GPO dynamics

COMPENSATION
Outlook Therapeutics is committed to pay transparency and equitable, market-calibrated compensation. This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus and a meaningful equity grant, reflecting the opportunity to build lasting value at a company at an inflection point.
Target annual bonus: 20%
Base salary range: $190,000-$225,000
Final compensation is determined by experience, location, and internal equity.
